Fading Away?

I went to visit Polly today.  I haven’t seen her in 8 months.  What can I say, we are both busy and she never wants to leave her house.  Driving 45 minutes with a baby was really overwhelming, and then there was always some reason why we couldn’t make our schedules line up.  However, after the initial catch-up stuff there was just… nothing to talk about.  We are SO different, in such different parts of our lives, with such different beliefs and hopes and dreams.  We sat in comfortable silence.  It wasn’t awful.  But it also made me realize we just don’t have much to connect on anymore.

On one hand, I have long prided myself on having diverse friends.  I don’t want to live in a bubble.  But when you have convictions and beliefs when it comes to things like religion, politics and parenting… how do you make it last when nothing lines up?

Seedling did get to meet Polly’s horse, which was pretty cool!  And even though she was a bit overwhelmed by all the people in Polly’s home it was sweet to watch the two teenage girls of the home ooo and ahhh over Seedling, and Seedling was equally fascinated by their neon-colored hair lol.
